My journey through recovery has been difficult, to say the least. I cannot imagine where I would be today if it were not for the help and direction I received from Aegis.
My medication-assisted treatment (MAT) journey spanned more than 16 years, with many peaks and valleys. It began in 2010 in the Bay Area and came to a close here in the Central Valley with Aegis.
While medication played an important role in my recovery, the one-on-one counseling, guidance, and development of healthy habits to break destructive mindsets are what have led to my success thus far. Professional counseling helped me identify my faults, triggers, and detrimental thought patterns while teaching me how to resist destructive thinking and make healthier choices.
Additionally, my faith in a loving, powerful presence greater than myself has given me the hope necessary to develop new habits and resist giving in to my triggers.
Thank you, Aegis, for giving me the hope and tools to build a new life, one where I have reconciled with my family and developed new friendships with brothers and sisters in recovery.
