WHAT IS FENTANYL?An Extremely Powerful Synthetic Opioid

Fentanyl was originally developed as a prescription medication to treat patients in severe pain. There are two types of fentanyl:

  • Legal, pharmaceutical fentanyl
  • Illicit, illegally manufactured fentanyl

Doctors prescribe legal fentanyl in the form of patches, lozenges, or injections. Illegally manufactured fentanyl is often sold on the black market. It can be mixed with other drugs, including:

  • Heroin
  • Cocaine
  • Methamphetamine
  • Counterfeit pills that resemble prescription opioids
  • ADHD medication
  • Anti-anxiety medications

We’ve been in your shoes, we know how the grip of addiction feels, so we know how to treat those who are struggling with it.

Experts in Treatment

If you were climbing Mount Everest, you wouldn’t just pull on a pair of boots and start climbing by yourself, would you? No. You’d want an experienced, expert guide. That’s how we see treatment for substance use disorders. We have 25+ years of experience supporting people with opioid use disorder (OUD) with an approach that is backed by 50+ years of clinical research. We go by the compass of what works.

Our Approach

We use medication-assisted treatment (MAT), the gold-standard treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD). MAT programs combine medications like methadone or Suboxone with counseling and support from experienced, certified, addiction counselors. MAT is not just about medication: it’s a holistic, whole-person approach to OUD treatment.

We also offer:

  • Family & group counseling
  • Relapse prevention education
  • Case management services
  • Peer support services
  • Social work services
  • Educational programs
  • Discharge planning & aftercare

We understand you might not want to choose MAT. We get it. If MAT is not your thing, you can choose integrated, comprehensive, holistic treatment and support at another level of care:

All treatment programs at Pinnacle include a combination of therapy, counseling, peer support, education, complementary modalities, and lifestyle changes, and aftercare support, based on your needs, personal history, and treatment goals.

Seeking Help and Support

We know that asking for help is hard. But here’s something you need to know: addiction is much harder. If you or someone you know needs support with fentanyl addiction, please don’t hesitate to seek help:

  • Support Groups: Seek support from groups like Narcotics Anonymous
