Men’s Health Month is the perfect time to spotlight different ways to prioritize well-being. At Pinnacle, our mission is grounded in health, and our own team members are walking the walk! From physical activity to mental well-being, these health tips from Pinnacle employees are practical and easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Here’s what they had to share:

Engage All Five Senses

For John, the outdoors is his ultimate playground. He believes that getting dirty and using all five senses is key to staying healthy.

“The #1 thing I do for my health? Hard to choose. I’d say my true favorite thing is hiking with my family. It’s hard work, gets you dirty, and you might get scraped up a bit. But the experience is amazing, and the sandwich you whipped up at home will taste like it’s from a Michelin Star Restaurant.

But at the core of it all – I get dirty. I paint with my hands, sculpt, do woodwork, garden, hike, fish, etc. Engage the 5 senses.”

Prioritize Your Spiritual Wellness

Jabari emphasizes the importance of nurturing your spiritual health and finding peace and grounding by reframing situations through the lens of a divine plan.

“The #1 most important thing I do for my well-being is take care of my spirituality. As a manager, I’m often faced with overwhelming thoughts and problems that I need to solve. It helps to reframe my situations through the perspective of a divine plan that is being worked out for my good. This helps me to stay grounded and at peace as I give my problems over to someone or something greater than me.”

Never Underestimate the Power of Sleep

When it comes to supporting overall health, Dr. Dennis picks sleep as his non-negotiable. He stresses the importance of consistent, quality sleep for better decision-making, focus, and sustainability in day-to-day life.

“The most important thing I do for my personal well-being is prioritize sleep. It supports my focus, decision-making, and overall health. In my role as CMO, I often emphasize the value of sustainable habits for both patients and providers. For me, consistent and quality sleep is the foundation.”

Start the Day with Positivity

Travell Nickey, Executive Director

For Travell, the way you start your day matters a lot. Want to harness positivity? Begin with uplifting words!

“To take care of my personal well-being, I start each morning with listening to a motivational speech. It’s a simple habit, but it sets the tone for my entire day—keeps me grounded, focused, and inspired. Just a few powerful words can shift your mindset and help you show up as your best self.”

Balance Spiritual, Mental, and Physical Health

For Jamar, health is about balance. His holistic approach shows us that a combination of small practices can add up to big health benefits.

“The most important thing I do for my health is broken into 3 categories.

  1. For my Spiritual Health, I spend every morning in prayer. Showing my gratitude, focusing on the people around me, and the needs I have.
  2. For my Mental Health, I do my best to alter my expectations and perspectives. I try to practice humility for myself and grace for others.
  3. Lastly, for my Physical Health, I engage with my kids. When you have 8 of them under one roof, you get a pretty good workout!”

Men’s health isn’t about a one-size-fits-all approach but finding what works best for you, whether it’s improving physical strength, mental clarity, or emotional well-being. We hope these tips from our team inspire you to make your health a priority this month and every day after.
