After years of substance use and experiencing incarceration several times, I reached a point where I knew I wanted something different for my life.

My experience at Aegis has been good, and I finally feel like I’m moving in the right direction with my sobriety. Having a routine and a place to come to regularly has given me accountability and something positive to stay focused on.

Treatment has also changed the way I think about my health. I’m more aware of how I’m feeling and what my body and mind need as I go through the process. Instead of living the way I did during active addition, I’m learning to focus on myself, my health, and the kind of future I want to build. I’ve been through a lot, but today I’m looking ahead and feeling hopeful about what my future holds.

For anyone who may be struggling and wondering when things will change, I’ve learned one thing: "It All Starts When You Get Tired of Being Tired."
