Over the Fourth of July weekend, George Boals celebrated 18 years of sobriety.

With his first taste of alcohol in middle school, Boals, the lead pastor at The Point Church, refers to himself as a “dope-smoking, alcohol-drinking” man in the years leading up to that last drink in 1999.

“I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic, so my life before coming to the Lord and giving it up to him was a chaotic mess,” Boals said.
